The event will be held in the Monmouth County Hall of Records Annex parking lot, East Main Street. There will be information available about community services for seniors, along with vendors, food and entertainment. Admission is free. Residents of all towns are welcome to attend.

September has been designated as Senior Citizens Month in Freehold Borough and municipal officials have planned activities to celebrate the older adults’ dedication and service to their community.

Human Relations Committee Vice Chairwoman Gianna Dell’Omo and Chairwoman Carol Lida have been planning Senior Appreciation Day.

Dell’Omo said she “finds pleasure in hosting this annual event to acknowledge our seniors with appreciation for what they have contributed, both past and present, to our community.”

Mayor Nolan Higgins said the day presents an opportunity to recognize the town’s senior residents and the contributions they have made to Freehold.

“Our seniors continue to be a vital part of family and community life in the borough and we are very happy and proud to celebrate this day with our senior residents,” he said.

Entertainment is scheduled to include members of Norma’s Zumba class and contestants from the Freehold Idol talent competition – Emma Lynne DeRoss, Reignn Acedora, Megan Stefanacci, Rachelle Legrand, Barney Guargliardo, Chris Corbin and David Winograd.

Parking is available in the Lafayette Street parking lot. The rain date is Sept. 25. For more information, call Gianna at 732-462-6621 or email GHMCNJ@aol.com
