Dr. Barbara Tomlinson will hold a two-part presentation on Sofonisba Anguissola and the National Museum of Women in the Arts at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Middlesex County. Part one will be held on Sept. 20, and part two will be held on Sept. 27, both at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $16 for members and $22 for nonmembers.

Part 1: Sofonisba Anguissola was probably the most interesting Renaissance painter never heard of. Her life story is more exciting and complex than a novel, and her art was appreciated by the likes of Michelangelo and Rubens. Dr. Tomlinson will engage the audience in experiencing her art.

Part 2: Learn about the National Museum of Women in the Arts, which rescued Sofonisba Anguissola from oblivion and put her back in the history books. This museum in Washington is the only one of its kind in the world and the story of its origin and growth is almost as inspirational as that of Sofonisba herself.

The JCC of Middlesex County is located at 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison. For more information or to reserve, call 732-494-3232.
