MARLBORO – A “thin blue line” that has been painted on Township Drive in the Marlboro municipal complex is meant to honor the service that is provided to the community by the members of the Marlboro Police Department and first responders.
In a press release, Mayor Jonathan Hornik said he directed Department of Public Works (DPW) employees to paint a “thin blue line” to honor Marlboro police officers and all first responders. The line begins at the entrance to the municipal complex on Wyncrest Road and ends at the parking area for Town Hall and the Chief Joseph R. Walker Justice Center, which houses the police department.
“The Marlboro Division of Police and the township’s volunteer first responders put their lives on the line every day to serve and protect the residents,” the mayor said. “The ‘thin blue line’ painted on the road leading to Town Hall and the police department will remind every resident and visitor to the municipal complex that police officers and all who are called first to come to our aid are a vital part of our community. It is a small way to express our thanks and appreciation for the job they do.”
“I want to thank Mayor Hornik, the administration and the Department of Public Works for this show of support,” Police Chief Bruce Hall said. “Marlboro officers value community policing and see it as an integral part of what we do each day. The visible sign of support each time they come to work will mean a lot to the officers.”
Representatives from the Marlboro Division of Police will be present at the Township Council meeting scheduled for Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. Lifesaving awards will be presented and a road sign dedicating the “thin blue line” will be unveiled, according to the press release.
