DeVry students place third in national business showdown

NORTH BRUNSWICK – A group of seniors from DeVry University received third-place honors in Devry’s national Senior Project Showdown competition.

The showdown is open to undergraduate and graduate students in their final semesters, encouraging classmates to collaborate on innovative ideas and creative solutions for a local business or startup, according to a statement prepared by the school.

Adrian’s Caterers owners Winfield and Greg Catwell, natives of Barbados, asked the team of students to develop the brand, increase online presence and expand the catering restaurant business.

By redesigning everything from the logo to the uniforms, Jamell Daniels, Eric Martinez, Christian Santiago, Paulette Hussey and Irma Lang were able to give the owners a new look for their company, the statement said.

A panel of DeVry University faculty, staff and employer partners – including Google, Cisco, Microsoft and Adobe – narrowed the entries from 65 to the top five projects. The five projects were then voted on via social media to name the final three.

The third-place team won $2,500.
