Old Bridge man faces 20 years in prison for 2013 pharmacy robbery

A 45-year-old man was found guilty on Sept. 15 of robbing a pharmacy in Old Bridge more than three years ago.

Jason Prontnicki of Bayonne was convicted of armed robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon during the robbery on April 29, 2013, according to a statement prepared by the Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.

During a trial in Somerville before Superior Court Judge Robert Reed, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Jason Boudwin presented evidence and testimony showing that Prontnicki entered the pharmacy and threatened a store employee with a lug wrench, the statement said.

Prontnicki fled without out taking any property when the store employee warned him that police were alerted and would be arriving soon. He was found a short time later in Woodbridge.

Prontnicki is facing a prison term of 10-20 years for the crimes. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 18.
