FREEHOLD – An automobile club that for years has devoted time and effort to Freehold Borough has been honored by municipal officials.
On Sept. 19, the Borough Council passed a resolution honoring the past and present members of the Freehold Kruisers Car Club. The car club promotes the exhibition of antique and vintage automobiles for the public to enjoy.
The Freehold Kruisers was formed in 1990 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015.
According to the resolution, Peter and Sheelagh Zaklukiewicz have served as the co-presidents of the car club since 2000.
The previous presidents of the Freehold Kruisers were Larry Martin and Frank DiGennaro, as reported by the News Transcript in 2015.
According to the resolution, the members of the Freehold Kruisers have become an integral part of the borough’s downtown history and entertainment, and the club’s car show has received statewide recognition from spectators and car enthusiasts of all ages who visit Freehold Borough.
The resolution states that Peter and Sheelagh Zaklukiewicz were instrumental in providing a dance floor for the borough’s annual Senior Appreciation Day, which took place on Sept. 18 at the Monmouth County Hall of Records Annex parking lot.
“Sincere gratitude is extended by the mayor and council on behalf of the residents of Freehold Borough to all members of the Freehold Kruisers, whose appreciation and dedication has kept a vital part of Freehold Borough’s tradition alive,” the resolution reads.
