Monroe man charged with theft of construction equipment from Middletown business

 

MIDDLETOWN – A 48-year-old Monroe Township man was charged on Sept. 19 with burglary and theft of construction equipment including an excavator, dumpster, tamper, saws and hydraulic equipment.

Lawrence J. Casazza faces one count of third degree burglary and one count of second degree theft following an investigation by Detective First Class Albert Scott of the Middletown Township Police Department, according to a statement prepared by Middletown Township Police Chief Craig Weber.

The charges stem from a burglary of the storage facility at All Phase General Contracting, located at 666 Highway 35, Middletown.

A search warrant was executed at Casazza’s residence, according to the statement, and some of the equipment was allegedly recovered on scene.

Casazza was processed and released after posting $100,000 bail, which was set by Presiding Judge Kathleen A. Sheedy of the Monmouth County Superior Court.
