Freehold Township Boy Scouts Darian Donald Atkinson, 17, Noah Bennett Goldstein, 18, and Kyle Sean Hart, 17, have attained the highest rank in scouting: Eagle Scout.
Darian is the son of Gary and Nancy Atkinson, Noah is the son of Steve and Helen Goldstein, and Kyle is the son of Sean and Loretta Hart, according to a press release.
The young men are members of Freehold Boy Scout Troop 18 and will receive their Eagle award at a ceremony to be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Freehold Borough, on Oct. 9.
Darian’s Eagle Scout project will benefit visitors at Monmouth Battleground State Park, Manalapan. He built a model of a Revolutionary War field artillery piece. The model cannon will be used in mock firing drills and, along with a companion movie, will educate visitors about the complexities of firing such artillery and how they were used in the Revolutionary War. Darian is a freshman studying computer science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
For his Eagle Scout project, Noah built 11 structures of various design and size that are intended to hold an array of therapeutic children’s puppets. The shelves and holders are used by his beneficiary, 180 Turning Lives Around, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence, according to the press release. The puppets are used in the therapy of children who have experienced domestic violence, helping them express themselves. Noah is a freshman at Stevens Institute of Technology.
Kyle designed a storage shed to benefit the Hope Lutheran Church, Freehold Township. He led a team of scouts in the construction of a 120-square-foot waterproof and properly ventilated shed that is designed to provide storage for many of the church’s needs for years to come. Upon his graduation in the spring from High Technology High School, Kyle plans to pursue a degree in engineering, according to the press release.
