METUCHEN — The battle cry for a downtown arcade will turn into cries of glee as Hailey’s HARP-Cade is set to open this Friday, Sept. 30.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially open Hailey’s HARP-Cade, which owners Chris Flynn and Mo Atzbi have said will provide the same level of casual and fun experience as their business Hailey’s Harp & Pub has been providing since 2009.

The pub has provided continued support to major community events through food drives, supporting local community events and tours and providing its residents a local watering hole to relax, watch a game and enjoy al fresco dining.

When Flynn heard the continued cries for an arcade from residents, he approached property owner and Metuchen Downtown Alliance Chairman Eric Berger about expanding his business to an adjoining property at 15 Station Place. The initial plans for the arcade began in spring 2016 with the groundbreaking in July 2016.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 30 and will be hosted by the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Metuchen Downtown Alliance. Activities will be held throughout the afternoon and evening with Creative Twist Events with family activities, including pinball and Pac-Man.
