Brandeis meeting will discuss life of Yiddish performer

The Brandeis National Committee Middlesex Chapter will meet at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Congregation B’nai Tikvah, 1001 Finnegans Lane, North Brunswick.

Marcia Midler will share the life story of Mollie Pican, who for eight decades was a force of nature in the realm of Yiddish theater. She was the first internationally known Jewish female performer and starred on radio, TV, Broadway and in motion pictures.

The October social justice collection will be for Clothesline, part of Elijah’s Promise. Donations of clothing will be accepted for people in need in New Brunswick.
