A 56 year-old woman was recently taken into police custody for allegedly engaging in prostitution at a Hillsborough massage parlor.
Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson said Kuihna Chang, of Flushing, NY, was apprehended just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday at JK Acupuncture and Massage.
According to officials, Ms. Chang allegedly offered to perform a sexual act on an undercover investigator at the Homestead Road business. Once the proposition was made, members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force and the Hillsborough Police Department entered the business to make the arrest.
Hillsborough Chief of Police Darren Powell said the investigation had been a weeks long endeavor that originated at the county level.
“This is an activity that we don’t want going on in our community by any means, so anything that could deter this from happening anywhere else is a benefit,” Chief Powell said.
Following her arrest, Ms. Chang was charged with prostitution and a disorderly persons offense.
As for the business where the alleged actions were taking place, Chief Powell declined to comment on its future.
“Obviously, there is going to be some scrutiny on the business…(and) there will definitely be some repercussions,” he said.
Ms. Chang is to appear in Hillsborough Municipal Court on Oct. 11.
