Author to present Pearl Harbor programs at library

SHREWSBURY — To commemorate the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor 75 years ago on Dec. 7, noted historian and World War II expert Paul Zigo will present the programs, “The Attack on Pearl Harbor,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 and “Could the Attack Have Been Avoided?” at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Monmouth County Library’s Eastern Branch, 1001 Route 35, Shrewsbury.

Both programs are open to the public, and reservations are not necessary.

Zigo, a retired U.S. Army colonel, is director of the New Jersey-based World War II Era Studies Institute. He has authored and edited “Witnessing History: The Eisenhower Photographs,” a publication featuring all the photographs of General Dwight D. Eisenhower taken by his personal wartime photographer, Al Meserlin, from 1944-1945.

Zigo was also the executive producer and narrator of the cable network series, “Triumphant Spirit: America’s World War II Generation Speaks from 2001 to 2004.” In 2014, he authored the book, “The Longest Walk: 29th Infantry Division in Normandy, France, June 6-July 18, 1944.”
