Reader opposed to gas tax

Friday’s vote to raise the gas tax 23 cents per gallon is regressive and will damage business in New Jersey. As a border state to New York that has high gas taxes, it will now prevent New Yorkers from coming here to shop and buy gas. Can you imagine how big a loss this state will experience with consumers now not crossing the bridges to purchase our goods and services? The state alone will lose toll revenue. Did they consider that in the equation?

Election Day is Nov. 8. We need to vote out the legislators, who instead of figuring out a better and fairer way of replenishing the transportation fund, they chose to lay the financial responsibility on us, the over taxed over burdened taxpayers.
