COLTS NECK – Municipal officials have proclaimed the week of Oct. 23-31 to be Red Ribbon Week in Colts Neck.
According to a proclamation issued by Mayor Thomas Orgo on Oct. 12, the National Red Ribbon Campaign offers citizens the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle by wearing red ribbons during the week.
Orgo presented a framed copy of a proclamation declaring Oct. 23-31 to be Red Ribbon Week in Colts Neck to members of the municipality’s Alliance Against Substance Abuse.
The proclamation states that “it is imperative that visible, unified prevention education efforts by community members be launched to eliminate the demand for drugs.”
In other business, the Township Committee will submit an application to obtain a $94,000 grant from Monmouth County Open Space Trust Funds in order to help fund the Town Hall Park Walking Trail Improvement Project. The total cost of the project is $188,000, according a resolution passed by the governing body.
Finally, the committee accepted the resignation of fire inspector and subcode official John Borden. His resignation will be effective Feb. 1, 2017.
