New website streamlines information for North Brunswick schools

NORTH BRUNSWICK – The North Brunswick Township Public Schools website has a fresh, new look thanks to a recent redesign.

Jennifer Aschettino, the instructional technology coach for grades K-12 and the web manager; Jennifer Diszler, the director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology; and Martin Schneider, the technology coordinator, began discussions about a year ago on how to streamline the website for the community while maintaining all of the necessary information for students, parents, staff members and administration.

“Previously, the website was great, but over time it housed so much information it became hard to find what you were looking for,” Aschettino said.

After looking at other websites from around the state and setting up several demonstrations, SchoolMessenger was chosen as the new provider, especially since the district’s phones and email systems are through the same company.

The transition to the new site took place over the summer, and the website went live in mid-September.

“There’s a cleaner, more modern interface,” Aschettino said, specifically noting the Quick Link tiles that make frequently visited sites easy to find, and the option for embedded maps on each school’s page to go directly into the GPS of a smartphone.

She also said the responsive design adjusts to the size of the screen, allowing for better viewing on a mobile device.

“We wanted to make sure we preserved the information on the old site but it was still familiar and easy to navigate,” Aschettino said. “It’s a hub of information for the community.”
