ALLENTOWN – Police have arrested a registered sex offender and charged him with committing a lewd act in an Allentown park.

Just before 3 p.m. Oct. 18, two adults went to police headquarters on Main Street and reported that a man was standing in Pete Sensi Park pleasuring himself and staring at people who were walking by.

The pedestrians included children who were on their way home from school from the Upper Freehold Regional School District complex on High Street, according to Patrolman Anthony Rando.

The adults who came to police headquarters described the man they observed in the park as having a skinny build, a bald or shaven head, wearing a blue work shirt and long brown/green pants, according to police.

After receiving the reports from the two adults, Rando responded to the area and observed a man wearing a blue shirt sitting in the only vehicle that was parked in the lot.

Police said the man saw Rando and quickly tried to place his car in reverse and leave the area. Rando blocked the man’s vehicle and asked him to step out of the car.

The man was subsequently identified as Miguel Flores, 54, of Jackson. Flores is a registered sex offender stemming from a 1997 incident, according to police.

Flores was arrested by Rando, transported to police headquarters and charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact and two counts of lewdness. He was transported to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township, without incident in lieu of $7,000 bail, according to police.

Allentown police posted news of Flores’ arrest on social media and on Oct. 19, Rando told the Examiner that several people had already notified police they had seen Flores in Allentown in the days prior to his arrest.

Anyone with information about Flores or any incidents is asked to contact Patrolman Anthony Rando at arando@allentownboronj.com
