St. Ambrose kindergartner helps fulfill the wishes of children in need

OLD BRIDGE – Isabella Vitale has a special friend who lives across the street from her.

The kindergarten student at St. Ambrose in Old Bridge loves to spend time with Steven, who has a rare form of muscular dystrophy that significantly limits his ability to speak or play.

Steven’s trip to Disney World last year from the New Jersey chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation impacted Isabella so much so that on Oct. 16, she decided to set up her own lemonade stand in her driveway, according to information provided by St. Ambrose. She prepared signs, decorated her booth and stocked her table with everything needed to sell lemonade – and raised $173.

Isabella and her parents met with Buddy O’Donnell, director of Corporate Alliance for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, on Oct. 24 at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place in Monroe.

O’Donnell gave a tour to the family while thanking Isabella for helping to bring wishes to kids with life threatening medical conditions.
