The Metuchen-Edison Area Branch of the NAACP will present the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble at 7 p.m. Nov. 5, at Crossroads Theatre, 7 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.
This Ensemble, with over 72 members from New Jersey and Africa, has performed all over the world. They are known for their West African presentations of Guinea, Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, The Gambia, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, among others countries. Performers will include “Pasha” the Stilt Walker. Tickets are $25, and $15 for children under 13. Community awards will be presented to Akil Roper, Esq. , Legal Services of New Jersey; Chrystal and Frank McArthur, NAACP STEM Project Chairs; Rev. Steven Deaver, Youth Outreach: Piscataway African-American Seniors Club.
