Elmwood Cemetery Association will hold two free, public, historical tours of its spacious Victorian Garden Cemetery, located at 425 Georges Rd., North Brunswick, on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Throughout history, from soldiers to doctors, nurses to local businesspeople, each citizen had an important role to play in protecting the safety of the city and ensuring its prosperity afterwards. Their stories reflect the larger atmosphere of the time and offer a glimpse into what it might have been like to live in the Brunswick area in the past.

The first tour at 1 p.m. will focus on the Civil War’s impact on our area. The second tour at 2:30 p.m. will feature information on World War I and how it, too, shaped the region.

Each tour will last roughly an hour with a short intermission between. The tours will be led by Rutgers students and alumni.
