Jennifer King

Jennifer King, 58, of Freehold Township, died peacefully, Oct. 25, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.

She was predeceased by her parents, Jeanne DuBois King and Daniel Louis King.

She is survived by her sister, Laurel King, her brother-in-law, Thomas Fee, and her nieces, Rachel and Rebecca Fee.
Jennifer was a graduate of Freehold Township High School (1976) and Stockton State College (1981, BA, Political Science). She received her Masters in Library and Information Science from Rutgers University School of Communication and Information which then led her to a 29-year career as reference librarian extraordinaire for the Monmouth County Library System.

Jen was a proud trustee and advocate of her union, AFSCME.

Prior to her work as a librarian, she was a reporter for the Freehold Transcript and a dog groomer.

She was an avid lover of all creatures great and small, especially dogs. She was a long-time member of the Bayshore Companion Dog Club and the Jersey Agility Group.

She was a pioneer of the first agility trials in New Jersey with her dog Maud, who was the first Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen to get an agility title. She was active with several dog rescue groups and on her spare weekends, she also worked for Fast Times Agility.

Jennifer will always be remembered for her sharp mind, bawdy sense of humor, kindness, quick wit, generosity and her passion for books, animals and social justice. She was a mentor and an adviser to many.
