SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Thirty-five women were able to be proactive with their health despite a lack of medical insurance thanks to the Indian Health Camp of New Jersey (IHCNJ) in collaboration with New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection.
The organizations offered free digital mammograms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Oct. 23 at the Durga Temple in South Brunswick.
After an overwhelming response from the last three years from eligible uninsured or underinsured women, the screening included a clinical breast exam by medical professionals and a digital mammography from Lackawanna Mobile X-Ray Inc. of Pennsylvania, according to a statement prepared by IHCNJ.
IHCNJ will hold its next comprehensive health fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus. Registration forms are available at www.IHCNJ.org or in Gujarat Darpan magazine and Tiranga newspaper.
