Allstate New Jersey Insurance Company agency owner Robert Sullivan received the Agency Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to helping others. With this award came a $1,000 grant from the Allstate Foundation for the Howell Township First Aid Squad No. 1. The Agency Hands in the Community Award celebrates the spirit of service. “Commitment to our communities is a part of what we do every day – protecting people and making their lives more secure,” said John Kane, president of Allstate New Jersey Insurance Company. “With support from the Allstate Foundation, Robert and the Howell Township First Aid Squad No. 1 are making their communities stronger.” To be eligible for nomination, Allstate agency owners must volunteer, mentor or lead a nonprofit organization of their choice.

On Oct. 19, one winner was selected during a random drawing for a new vehicle at a sweepstakes event at the Forsgate Country Club, Monroe Township. The Valerie Fund and dealers participating in the New Jersey Auto Retailers Unite campaign hosted an event during which 69 finalists present were narrowed down to 10 finalists and the winner was selected. The grand prize winner, Jenifer Gerlock, received her winning voucher from Jim Curley Buick GMC, Lakewood. John Cioffi, sales manager for Jim Curley Buick, attended the event to cheer on the dealership’s finalists and to congratulate Jenifer, who will have the opportunity to choose a vehicle (up to a value of $33,000). More than 200 dealerships have participated in the New Jersey Auto Retailers Unite campaign over the past three years. The event is projected to raise more than $1.5 million for New Jersey children with cancer and blood disorders served by the Valerie Fund. Participating dealerships gave their customers a chance to win a new vehicle when they test drove or purchased a vehicle from May 30 through Sept. 16. In turn, these dealership donate $5 to the Valerie Fund for every car sold through October, while also raising awareness of the Valerie Fund, which is now in its 40th year.
