MARLBORO – A benefit concert and dance will be held at the Morganville Independent Fire Company, Route 79, Morganville, at 8 p.m. Nov. 19.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the “Bring Back the Mack” fund and will be used to purchase and restore the 1940 Mack firetruck that served the fire company from the 1940s through 1990, according to John Rieth, co-chair of the Morganville Independent Fire Company’s “Bring Back The Mack” Committee.

Music will be provided by the Rusty Chain band, which is made up of Morganville natives Charlie Mongano, Roy Smith, Jack Alt and Doug Alt. The men grew up in Morganville during the first two decades of the 1940 Mack truck’s life, according to a flier promoting the concert.

Reith said three of the men have or had family members serve with the fire company. The band is donating all proceeds back to the fund.

The 1940 Mack pumper was one of the first vehicles the fire company was able to buy new in 1940. The truck was sold in 1990 and has been sold three more times. The current owner has offered the truck to the fire company, according to Reith.

A minimum donation of $20 is requested for general admission to the concert and dance. A donation of $50 will include general admission plus a V.I.P. event at 6:30 p.m. with a buffet supper, open bar and preview concert.

Additional donations will have the donor’s name painted permanently on the truck ($500; $1,000; $5,000; and $10,000), according to the flier. The fire company may be reached at 732-591-9616.
