FREEHOLD-Born to Run lives on again this Thanksgiving season.
The Freehold Area Running Club (FARC) will hold its annual Born to Run, a 5-mile road race that will be staged through the community Nov. 25.
According to FARC Vice President Dave Friedman, the race has been a success for many years.
“The Born to Run Race is in its 31st year, making it one of the oldest distance events held in Monmouth County.” he said.
Starting at the Freehold Fire House that is located on 51 Main St., runners will race through the streets of Freehold and scenic Lake Topanemus Park.
An early registration fee of $30 can be made by mail but must be postmarked by Nov. 21. A t-shirt will be given to those who pre-register.
Post-registration is $35 and will be available on race day, beginning at 9 a.m.
Along with FARC, the Court Jester Restaurant also sponsors the race, providing post-race refreshments. The restaurant is located at 16 E. Main St. in Freehold.
Awards for race placers and age-group winners will be given out. A grand prize of $100 will be awarded to the male or female who can break the course record.
The race will benefit the Open Door Food Pantry, which this event has been supporting for decades.
