South River man accused of having sexual relations with a minor

 

SOUTH RIVER – A 25-year-old man from South River has been charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Joseph A. Brown was charged on Nov. 11 with a second degree count of sexual assault and a third degree count of endangering the welfare of a child, according to a statement released by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Mark Tinitigan of the South River Police Department.

The investigation began when the girl and her family alerted police, according to the statement. He was charged after it was determined that he allegedly had sexual relations with the teenager at an undisclosed location in South River on Nov. 10, police said.

Bail was set at $100,000.
