‘Let’s all take a deep breath’ and support our president, country

I am so saddened by the reaction of young people to the election of our new president-to-be. To reach the age of at least 18 years and not know that there are disappointments in life is really sad.

Possibly this over-the-top reaction and destruction is due to the fact that parents now overly protect and cushion every event in our children’s lives. Is that possible? Is it possible that we are not properly preparing our young people for life’s bumps?

Life is full of disappointments, but it is how we handle them that makes us adults. Rioting, destroying property and/or calling names is not acceptable behavior. Not to mention that our police force is being severely tested, and then when there is a reaction, there’s another blowup about the reaction.

Let’s all take a deep breath, just like the voters did when President Obama won, and say we will support our president and our country where we have so many blessings and so many opportunities.

Also, please take a minute and say “thank you” to our veterans. Or, if you see a veteran in a restaurant, buy him a cup of coffee, a bagel, etc. It is just a “little bit of kindness.” This act of kindness goes a very long way.
