New school is a ‘necessity’ in North Brunswick

Fifty-one years ago, we relocated to North Brunswick with our then three sons. The reputation of the school system is what drew us to the town. North Brunswick had four elementary schools, one middle school and no high school. Residents, parents and seniors alike, bonded together and wrote letters, phoned the local radio stations and marched on Trenton to petition for our own high school. What a proud day when the doors opened for the first time to North Brunswick Township High School.
Our population has more than tripled since then and we still have four elementary schools.  Trailers and rooms have been added to the existing schools but how many times can you add before you create a mess.
We need a new school. We need to keep our kids safe and secure a good education for them. I am a senior now – my four sons have all gone through the school system and received an excellent education. I want the same for all North Brunswick children.  Will my taxes go up? Yes, about $200 a year.  Will the value of my home go up? Absolutely.
Let’s bond together again and vote yes for a new school on Dec. 13.  It is not a luxury, it is a necessity. We owe it to our kids.
