Police were called to the victim’s home on Kirschman Drive around 8:48 p.m. on Nov. 26 to find the woman had been killed in the home she shared with her son. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

During an investigation by Detective Addie Spinola of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Joseph Chesseri of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, it was determined that Polera allegedly caused the death of his mother. An autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office showed the victim died from asphyxiation by compression, according to the statement.

As of press time, Polera was in custody waiting for bail to be set.

Anyone with information should call Spinola at 732-721-5600, ext. 3181 or Chesseri at 732-745-3115.
