Third Hour of Code coming to library Dec. 10

The third annual Hour of Code is set for 5-9 p.m. Dec. 10 at the East Brunswick Public Library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center.

Hour of Code is a global initiative organized by Code.org, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science. The event is open to teens ages 13 and up. Participants will have the opportunity to test different coding platforms and Web development tools such as Codeacademy and Code Combat. There also will be workshops on several other technologies, including Arduino, Photoshop, robotics, Minecraft mods, Lego Mindstorms and Google Cardboard.

Hour of Code is sponsored by the East Brunswick Education Foundation, the East Brunswick Public Library and the East Brunswick High School Code Club. There will be pizza and snacks for all participants and a free T-shirt for those attending the event.

The Hour of Code is part of the library’s annual Tech Week series of programs, which include an introduction to podcasting, tech-equipment assistance and learning how to access library materials from a smart phone or tablet.
