Historic Four Corners Lantern Tours set for Dec. 2

A last call for reservations for the Lantern Tours at 8 p.m. on Dec. 2 are announced. The 6 p.m. tours are sold out. Tours start at Christ Church, 380 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury. On this evening, the historic buildings at the corners of Broad Street and Sycamore Avenue will be open to the public.

Tours are by reservation only. Children (12 and under) are $8. Adults are $20. Reservations are required. Space is limited. Christ Church will also be offering a dinner served before each tour for an additional $10 per person.

The tours will include four historic properties: Monmouth County Historical Association’s Allen House c. 1710; the Presbyterian Church, c.1735; Christ Church c.1769; and Shrewsbury Friends Meeting House c. 1816. At Allen House, which served the community as a tavern in the mid-18th century, visitors will be greeted by the tavern keeper and his family who will illustrate
tavern life through dramatic first-person storytelling. Music and singing will be followed by cookies and cider, and general merriment.
