At 8 p.m. on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Charles enlists Jakes help in tracking down his son’s favorite toy for Christmas, while the precinct team gears up for the annual Christmas carol competition against the MTA. At 8:31 p.m. on New Girl, Jess struggles to keep the Loft’s Secret Santa afloat, while helping plan a Christmas surprise for Nick.
PBS‘ Great Performances presents its 3-part The Hollow Crown: War of the Roses special Dec.11, 18 and 25 from 9 to 11 p.m. (check your local listings). During part 1, England is in crisis, with war raging and divisions within the English court. During part 2, bitter rivals erupt. King Henry VI is overshadowed by Queen Margaret and Edward IV takes the throne. During part 3, Richard III is in quest for the throne. The strong cast includes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dame Judith Dench, Sophie Okonedo, Tom Sturridge, Hugh Bonneville, Keeley Hawes and Phoebe Fox.
