JAMESBURG — After several weeks of investigation, police discovered a borough residence that was reportedly being used to cultivate marijuana and Psilocybin mushrooms.

Members of the Jamesburg Police Department (JPD), led by Detective Patrick Smith,  executed a Superior Court-approved narcotic search warrant at 27 Ridgeview Road on Nov. 8, according to a statement provided by Sgt. Jason Muller of the JPD.

Police reportedly seized 20 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and three large plastic bins that were modified to enhance the growing of the mushrooms, according to the statement.

Police also reportedly seized various prescription medications, dried marijuana packaged for sale, indoor growing lights, electrical components, an indoor plant-growing enclosure equipped with fans and lights, numerous smoking pipes and bongs, and several jars of mushroom spores.

The resident of the home, Michael Cerrito, 53, was charged with three counts of operating a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) production facility, distribution of CDS, possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
