JACKSON – Members of the public will have an opportunity to bid on motor vehicles and other items that are no longer being used by Jackson employees when an online auction begins at 9 a.m. Dec. 10.

On Nov. 29, members of the Township Council unanimously passed a resolution authorizing the online auction to take place from 9 a.m. Dec. 10 to 6 p.m. Dec. 15.

According to the resolution, “the township was previously approved to participate in the E-Procurement program which would allow the township to procure and dispose of certain goods/personal property in a more cost-effective and efficient manner via online auctions.”

According to information provided by municipal officials, vehicles to be auctioned online include a GMC Sonoma pickup truck (minimum bid of $500), a Blue Bird school bus (minimum bid of $500) and a 330 Peterbilt dump truck (minimum bid of $800).

The resolution states that the “township is currently in possession of various surplus motor vehicles and other miscellaneous property that have been obtained by the Jackson Police Department and are no longer needed for public use.”

According to information from the township, the following items are among those being auctioned off: 50 police bicycles (minimum bid of $75 for a lot), a 2003 BMW 425XI (minimum bid of $9,000), a 2008 Dodge Durango (minimum bid of $800) and a 2002 Ford Expedition (minimum bid of $600).

Other municipal property to be auctioned off includes filing cabinets, color printers, desks and additional office equipment.

According to the resolution, USGovBid/Auction Liquidation Services will sponsor the online auction. Bidders must preregister with USGovBid/Auction Liquidation Services at www.usgovbid.com.

Samantha Novak, administrative clerk for the Township said the website usgovbid.com will have a complete list of the items for the Dec. 10 online auction.

All items are sold as is and there are no warranties or returns. All sales are final and the council reserves the right to reject any and all bids, according to the resolution.
