LINCROFT — The annual holiday fundraiser dinner, “A Night for the Troops,” was recently held at Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) by members of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) at both CBA and Trinity Hall, a high school for girls.

Proceeds from the dinner will be used to purchase supplies for servicemen and servicewomen stationed overseas during the holiday season.

The event, now in its tenth year, was held Dec. 6 and exemplifies what makes holidays special and keeps the focus on gratitude and kindness to all.

This year, SADD’s dinner was held in honor of Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski II, a CBA and West Point alumnus who was killed Nov. 19, 2005, in Bayji, Iraq.

Each year, students from CBA and Trinity Hall come together to cook an enormous pasta dinner for attendees.

Last year’s dinner raised over $6,600 in support of troops and was attended by over 230 people.

Each year the event honors a hero, supports the military and celebrates the holiday season.

The CBA community’s commitment is to serve during the holiday season. Other major endeavors include the Thanksgiving Food Drive — which collected over 22,000 nonperishable food items this year for local food banks — and the school’s continued collaboration with Holiday Express for a Christmas party for students with special needs. The party is planned for most of the school day on Dec. 15.

CBA is a private, Catholic, academic preparatory school for boys located in Lincroft. CBA is dedicated to helping students become intellectually mature and morally responsible leaders for society.

The mission of CBA’s chapter of SADD is to help students make positive decisions during high school and beyond. CBA SADD has remained one of the largest and most successful student groups in school history.

Trinity Hall is a private, girls’ high school in the Catholic tradition located in Leonardo. Trinity Hall’s core values of leadership, respect, perseverance and faith are foundational to their mission.
