Library sets holiday programs for children, adults

The Old Bridge Public Library, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, will offer several upcoming holiday-themed programs for children and adults.

A workshop titled “Effective Charitable Giving” is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 15. Boris Yakubchik, a member of the effective altruist movement, will share his tips about valuable resources to search for the best, most cost-effective charities and discovering how to maximize the impact of charitable donations for local or global good.

The American Sewing Guild (ASG) will host its Holiday Bottle Bag event 1 p.m. Dec. 17. The session will feature an open workshop in which patrons may work on their own sewing projects or learn how to make a holiday gift bottle bag. Participants must bring their own supplies for all projects. Bottle-bag supplies will include holiday-themed material, thread, scissors and a sewing machine. “Ebenezer Scrooge Unbound” is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sun. Dec. 18. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley and Tiny Tim will come to life in a new way with a twist of science fiction and time travel added to the mix. Members of the Garden State Speculative Fiction Writers will perform their retelling of the classic tale.

Youngsters in grades 6-12 are invited to “Let it Snow: Make Your Own Snow Globe” set for 7 p.m. Dec. 19. Participants may make a globe for themselves or to give as a holiday gift.
