Manalapan police tell residents: Lock your vehicles at all times

MANALAPAN – Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles following a report of an individual who entered a vehicle in a residential development, but apparently got nothing for his efforts.

At 10:30 p.m. Dec. 5, Patrolman Matthew Mattia responded to a residence on Bristol Road, off Millhurst Road, for a report of a motor vehicle burglary.

Police said a neighbor saw a white man in his 20’s, with dark hair and wearing a plaid shirt, enter a vehicle and open the hood of the vehicle before fleeing the area on foot. A 37-year-old Manalapan resident reported that nothing was removed from the vehicle.

In other incidents reported by police:

• On Dec. 10 at 1 p.m., a 61-year-old male resident of Manalapan came into police headquarters to report an incident of fraud. The man reported that unknown individuals used his personal information to obtain a credit card and charged $13,000 to the credit card in September.

• On Nov. 6 at 1:47 a.m., Patrolman Sean McCarthy responded to the area of Route 9 and Tennent Road for a report of a motor vehicle collision. An investigation resulted in Dmitry Mandrik, 35, of Manalapan, being charged with driving while intoxicated. Mandrik was transported to police headquarters, processed and released to a responsible adult.

• On Nov. 5 at 12:20 a.m., Patrolman Christopher Makwinski and Patrolman Jason Vigneault responded to Exxon, Route 9, for a report of vandalism to a vehicle. The officers met with a 22-year-old Marlboro resident who said a man punched his vehicle several times and then left the area. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $928.
