HOPEWELL: Local soccer goalie earns high awards

A Hopewell native was recently given high praise for his efforts as a soccer goalie during the Mercer County Soccer Coaches Association CVC (Colonial Valley Conference) All County Banquet.
Robby Dorsett received the Judge Cooper Goalkeeper of the Year Award during the gala, which saw players from around the area receiving accolades for their achievements.
Along with his Goalie of the Year nod, Mr. Dorsett was also named to the All CVC 2016 First Team. He will also be recognized as part of the 2016 All State Team in January.
He was also selected for the Mercer County Hall of Fame Alumni Game played at Rider University.
Earlier this year, the Hopewell Bulldogs clinched the North II Group 3 Title.
Mr. Dorsett played for years with the Hopewell Valley Soccer association (HVSA), where he participated in Rec Div I, II and III. He also played with two HVSA Travel Teams and a Pennington United Travel Team before serving as a referee for the recreational league.
At the high school level, Mr. Dorsett played Varsity for two years and was a swing JV/Varisty player his Sophomore year. Academically, he is an AP and Honors student.
During his off time, Mr. Dorsett enjoys spending time at the gym, has a passion for History and is an avid angler. Off season, he works on computers at Hopewell Valley Computer Service.
