MONROE – The Chelsea at Forsgate assisted living residence recently held a “Pasta for a Purpose” fundraiser on behalf of Trent Powers, a two-year-old Helmetta boy suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Money raised totaled $2,135 in dinners and other contributions. On Dec. 15, a check was presented to Trent’s mom, Kimberly Powers, at the Christmas tree in the Chelsea sunroom, by Chelsea Executive Director Scott Yaeger, Director of Community Relations Maria Mondi and Chelsea Senior Living Regional Director of Lifestyles and Business Development Chris Slavicek, according to information provided by Chelsea Senior Living.
“These funds will help the Powers family deal with the escalating costs of having a little boy with this illness,” said Slavicek, who is also the mayor of Helmetta. “We are happy to have an opportunity to assist our neighbors and wish them all the best.”
Chelsea communities across New Jersey raise funds for local causes all year around. This year, the company also raised $35,000 for Alzheimer’s New Jersey with various activities at its 16 communities in the state.
