Superintendent notes school year highlights

As superintendent of Monmouth Regional High School, I never stop being amazed by my faculty, staff and students.

Regarding faculty and staff members, I am honored to announce that the Monmouth Regional High School Employee of the First Quarter of the 2016-2017 school year is Mrs. Paulina Macaluso; Support Staff Member of the Year is Mrs. Carrie Tansley; Educational Services Professional of the Year is Mrs. Therese Cahill; and Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Cristina Nappi.

Each year Monmouth Regional High School holds a Thanksgiving Food Drive. This year, DECA, FCCLA, Key Club, a few sport teams, coaches and Monmouth Regional’s Pre-School Program joined forces and collected 33 turkeys and over 1,000 food items. We were able to donate 33 Thanksgiving dinners to families in our community.

The generosity does not end there. Each holiday season the Falcons have a Holiday Gift Tree. DECA, Key Club and the Pre-School Program collected 224 gifts and were able to provide 130 children in our community with gifts this year. These two events involved over 200 students. That’s approximately 20 percent of my student population. It is through community events/programs such as these that showcase the true character of our students. I am so proud to be a Falcon!

Upcoming events include the 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 AP Academy Class of 2021 Information Night at MRHS-PAC and the 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27 PTSA Gift Auction at MRHS Commons.

Happy Holidays from the Falcon family.
