West Windsor Township has been awarded a grant for $19,601 from the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Fund grant program, according to Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh.
The Highway Safety Fund grant is intended to promote public safety. The money can be used to buy equipment such as police cars, radar, communication and surveillance equipment, and computer equipment.
Township officials have not yet decided how to spend the money, Mayor Hsueh said. He plans to consult with Chief of Police Joseph Pica as to how the money should be spent.
“The ongoing cooperation between the township and the state for improvement of our law enforcement within the Safe Corridors (designation) continues to enhance safety for our community,” Mayor Hsueh said.
“We will participate in all available programs to improve and protect West Windsor Township,” Mayor Hsueh said.
