Middletown Public Library announces children’s programming

The Middletown Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Rd., announces Children’s Programming for January of 2017.

All programs require registration unless noted otherwise. Register for events at www.mtpl.org or by phone at 732-671-3700, ext. 340.

New and special programs include:

Peer Tutoring for grades 6-12 will be held Mondays at 7 p.m. This program provides free tutoring for teens in grades 6-12. Tutors are high school honor students. Subjects currently available are Spanish, French, Science, History and Language Arts. If help is needed with another subject, please email Stephanie at schadwick@mtpl.org and she will try to find a tutor for that subject.

Up-Cycled Art will be held at 4 p.m. on Jan. 5 and Jan. 23. Join for an up-cycling craft session. Bring your imagination; the rest is supplied.

Douglas Bartow, retired teacher and volunteer, will present Ready Set Read: Movement Storytelling for grades K-2 at 4 p.m. on Jan. 12. “No hands in lap, lips zipped” during this story time. Participants are expected to “help tell the story” by contributing words and actions during the reading.

Rubber Duckie Book Club Birthday Party will be held at 10 a.m. on Jan. 27. Join Miss Michele as the Rubber Duckie Book Club celebrates its birthday.

ScienceStarts for Pre-K to 1st Grade will be held at 4 p.m. on Jan. 30 for 4-7 year olds and any siblings. Families will participate in hands on science activities as well as in a storytime featuring books related to the activities.

Drop in programs include homework help, developing a skill or fun creative crafts. Lapsit Storytime for prewalkers, Kids Playgroup, Simply Storytime, Math Tutoring and Reading Buddies, Lego building and chess will be held. Creative and fun crafts to do are held in the Discovery Zone.

Monthly programs include Read to a Dog, Dress for Mess, Gymboree and Pokemon Trading Night.
