LINCROFT — Brookdale Community College (BCC) is asking the community to nominate former students for three awards — the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award and two honorary degrees — to be presented during the college’s commencement in May.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to a Brookdale graduate or attendee who has earned distinction or recognition through professional, personal and civic accomplishments.

Last year, this prestigious award was presented to Emily Chapman and Selma Morris.

Chapman won top honors on the Food Network show, “Chopped: Impossible,” in 2015. Morris serves as a Monmouth County law enforcement professional.

The honorary degrees go to two community members who are an inspiration to the Brookdale student body due to their personal and professional achievements.

Last year, Norma Hardy of Neptune and Bernard Weinstein of Freehold won these awards. Hardy is the the highest ranking female officer in the history of the New Jersey and New York Port Authority, and Weinstein is a World War II veteran and semi-retired attorney. He also completed more than 68 classes at the college over the past 28 years.

Members of the community are asked to nominate those they deem worthy of these awards. To nominate an individual, visit www.brookdalecc.edu by Jan. 30.
