HOPEWELL VALLEY: Four high schoolers named to top regional music ensembles

A group of musically-inclined teenagers from Hopewell Valley Central High School will begin the new year with more recognition after they were selected to join the selective ranks of the Central Jersey Music Educators Association Honor Ensembles., High school juniors Christopher Nadar, Daniel Lee and Alex Kim, along with senior India Anderson, were accepted into the honors ensembles after performing well during the highly competitive Dec. 10 auditions., The four were also selected from among several of their peers from Central High School, who all competed for a spot for one of 50 to 80 open seats per instrument in each group., According to officials, Christopher was accepted into Symphonic Band as a trombone player; Daniel was accepted into the Orchestra as a violinist; Alex was accepted into the orchestra as a cellist and India was accepted into the Wind Ensemble as a tuba player., As this year’s selected players, the four pupils will gain “invaluable experiences learning from and performing with other exceptionally talented students,” a representative with CJMEA said., The honor ensembles are also conducted and led by renowned band and orchestra conductors from across the country and the accepted students will benefit greatly from the experience., Later this month, all four students will have a chance to audition for the New Jersey All State ensembles.
