During the board’s Jan. 9 reorganization meeting, Tyler Jordan, who won his first three-year term in the Nov. 8 election, joined his mother, Annette, as a member of the board that oversees the borough’s three schools.

Annette Jordan and another incumbent, Paul Ceppi, retained their seats in the Nov. 8 election and have begun serving three-year terms. Annette Jordan joined the board in 1998. Ceppi joined the board in 2014.

During the meeting, the board members voted to keep the president and vice president who served the board during 2016 in those same positions for 2017.

Michael Lichardi, who served as president in 2016, was nominated to serve as president for 2017 and was elected in a unanimous vote. Lichardi joined the board in 2009.

Susan Greitz, who served as vice president in 2016, was nominated to serve as vice president for 2017 and was elected in a unanimous vote. Greitz joined the board in 2010.

This year will see work continue on a construction project that will provide new facilities in the district. The new facilities are being constructed to handle the district’s growing enrollment.

Superintendent of Schools Rocco Tomazic said the board’s architect is currently engaged in the design and development work of the project. The design and development work will allow the district’s representatives to seek bids from contractors. Tomazic said administrators hope the bid process will take place by April.

If the bid and award process takes about a month, Tomazic said, the district may be ready to break ground in May and heavy construction work would occur during the summer when school is not in session. Administrators hope new classrooms will be ready to open by September 2018.

“We will have a better idea on (when classrooms will open) once a contractor is awarded and working,” Tomazic said.
