Community leaders honored for excellence in education

SOUTH RIVER – The South River Foundation for Educational Excellence (SRFEE) honored three distinguished guests during its second annual Adult Dinner Dance fundraiser.

Superintendent of Schools Michael J. Pfister, certified public accountant Marc D. Binder and Ria Mar owner Rui Baptista were recognized on Jan. 20.

Pfister has been supportive of the foundation since its planning stages, according to a statement provided by the organization. He facilitates the communication of initiatives, activities and successes through the school district and the community.

Binder has provided his accounting services pro bono to the South River Foundation.

Baptista is “gracious” with his facility and allows the foundation to meet there for its fundraisers. He is supportive of the SRFEE, the school district, faculty, organizations, parents and students.
