LONG BRANCH — The Forrestdale Middle School boys’ basketball team recently spread some cheer to patients at Monmouth Medical Center.
The team collected and delivered over 200 presents to the hospital’s Pediatric and Orthopedic Clinic and The Unterberg Children’s Hospital.
Monmouth Medical Center’s Pediatric and Orthopedic Clinic treats children with cerebral palsy, bone fractures, scoliosis, babies with hip dysplasia, toeing, and bow-leggedness. In 2016, the clinic logged 585 patient visits.
Rob Patton, Vice Chair of the Monmouth Medical Center Foundation’s Board of Trustees, coordinated the toy drive with his wife, Kathryn. Their son plays on the Forrestdale team and also participated in the drive.
Patton is also is very proud of the team’s enthusiasm for the drive.
“They have embraced the importance of giving back and recognize the value of philanthropy in living fulfilled lives. The smiles and tears of joy of which they were part of will stay with them always. It was a humbling experience as both a board member and a father.”
Sue Porter, RN, BSN, BC, and clinical director of the Pediatric Orthopedic Clinic could not express her appreciation more.
“We are immensely appreciative of the Forrestdale students. their coach, and all of our benefactors in the community,” she said. “The children are so grateful for the gifts.”
