OLD BRIDGE — Three new officers have joined the police ranks in Old Bridge.

Joseph Ramm, Jonathan Ditmars and Antonino Grigoli began the Cape May Police Academy on Jan. 24. They are expected to graduate in June.

Mayor Owen Henry introduced the three new officers at a Township Council meeting on Jan. 23. He said the officers scored high on the department’s administered police test.

Ramm, 21, previously served as an Old Bridge Township Special Class II law enforcement officer.

“These officers go into the schools and provide school security detail,” Henry said. “I’m sure some of the parents and students do know Joe already.”

Ramm earned an associate’s degree in science and criminal justice from Brookdale Community College and is working on receiving his bachelor’s degree in national security from New Jersey City University.

Ditmars, 24, of South Plainfield, earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice and political science from Middlesex County College and is working on receiving his bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice from Rutgers University.

Grigoli, 27, grew up in Old Bridge. He earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and natural sciences from Rider University.

“As a young adult, he participated in various community oriented programs and one of programs was the Old Bridge Youth Police Academy, which may have set [in motion] his path to become an Old Bridge police officer,” Henry said.

The mayor noted that in August, the department had hired two officers, Matthew Walczak and Peter Benedict. They graduated from the Cape May Police Academy on Jan. 17 and have started working with the department.
