Meet ‘The Lizard Guys’ at Audubon Family Night March 8

The Lizard Guys will teach and entertain using live animals at the Monmouth County Audubon Society’s annual “Family Night” program on March 8.

The meeting will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall, 200 Fair Haven Rd., Fair Haven. The public is welcome; admission is free. Since this program is specifically geared for children, the program will start at 7 p.m., an hour earlier than usual.

The Lizard Guys is a New Jersey-based “kid-friendly” educational entertainment troupe that provides live animal presentations with lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs and various bugs. Since 1995 the group educates and entertains groups of people, from ages 5 to 95, using live animals.

Geared to the age of the group, the program centers around the live animals. The audience is introduced to each animal, generally one at a time, by one of The Lizard Guys, explaining where the animal comes from, its normal diet, its life expectancy and answering any other questions from the group. They will also learn about a typical “day-in-the-life” of each animal, such as what they eat and their normal habitat. The program promises to be fun for all ages.

The Monmouth County Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society, is dedicated to the enjoyment and study of nature, wildlife conservation, habitat protection, and education. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month September through May at the Knights of Columbus hall, 200 Fair Haven Rd., Fair Haven; guest speakers address a wide variety of nature-related topics, and refreshments are provided. In addition, the group sponsors at least one field trip per month, and members receive The Osprey, the club’s bi-monthly newsletter.
