NORTH BRUNSWICK – Gloria Zastko Realtors is proud to honor the family of one of its very own agents, Kyla Mallette. Kyla’s husband, Alvin, has just returned home after being deployed to the Middle East.
Stationed with the Air Force in the Middle Eastern nation of Qatar, Captain Alvin Mallette arrived home on Jan. 31 after a six month deployment. While overseas, Captain Mallette was in charge of security for the base.
While Alvin Mallette was overseas in Qatar, his wife, Kyla, a Realtor-Associate with Gloria Zastko Realtors, was holding down the fort at home. That included not only taking care of their two children, Jasmine, 6, and Andrew, 3, but also continuing to serve her clients at Gloria Zastko Realtors.
“It was definitely tough having Alvin gone for six months, but we had to make it work,” Kyla said.
While being separated was tough, technology was actually a big help while Alvin was away. During his time in Qatar, Alvin and Kyla would email and text message each other to keep in touch. On Alvin’s days off, he would also be able to video chat with his family over FaceTime.
“Our ability to keep in touch the way we did made it a lot easier to be away from my family,” Alvin said.
Now that Alvin is back from Qatar, the team at Gloria Zastko Realtors wanted to honor the Mallettes for their sacrifice to the country.
“You always hear about members of our military being honored, but you don’t always hear about the families of those service members being recognized,” said Andrew Zastko, broker / owner of Gloria Zastko Realtors. “We wanted to let Kyla know that the sacrifice she and her kids went through means a lot to all of us.”
As a small token of their appreciation, the office gave a gift card to the Mallettes so they can go out for a great dinner.
Kyla would also like to let everyone know that there are some wonderful benefits available to veterans when it comes to buying a home.
