JACKSON – The Jackson School District Board of Education has approved lease-purchase financing agreements for school vehicles and technology equipment.
Board members took the action on Feb. 21. Approving the resolutions were board President Barbara Fiero, Vice President Scott Sargent and board members John Burnetsky, Thomas Colucci and Michael Walsh.
One resolution states that the board determined to lease-purchase finance the acquisition of school buses for an amount not to exceed $973,000 and a term not to exceed five years. The board awarded the lease-purchase financing to the lowest bidder, TD Equipment Finance, at an indexed interest rate of 1.69 percent.
A second lease-purchase agreement is for the acquisition of technology equipment. The board awarded the lease-purchase financing for technology equipment to TD Equipment Finance at an indexed interest rate of 1.56 percent, according to a resolution.
The lease-purchase agreement for the technology equipment will not exceed $1.8 million, according to the resolution, which states that the agreement will not exceed five years.
In other business, the board passed a resolution authorizing the board secretary to submit an application to the state Department of Education for a new capital improvement project for courtyards at the Crawford-Rodriguez Elementary School.
According to the resolution, the Crawford-Rodriguez project is an “other” capital project and the board is not seeking any state funding for the work.
In other business, the board took action to permit the Jackson School District to donate 20 surplus computers to the Jackson Police Department.
And, board members accepted the following retirements from district personnel: Paul Hrebik (guidance counselor, Johnson and Rosenauer schools, retiring April 1), Joyce Percelli (teacher, Goetz Middle School, retired Feb. 1) and Beth Boyuka (teacher, Switlik School, retiring July 1).
